DEVELOPMENT OF START-UPS IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the state of development of start-ups in Ukraine. Generalization of the content and critical analysis of scientific publications of domestic and foreign scientists on the studied problems allowed justifying the feasibility of development and implementation of start-ups in the economic practice of enterprises. It is established that all start-ups are characterized by certain common features that unite them. There are patterns and details, without each of which the newly created start-up has a significantly lower chance of being implemented. These include – a scalable business idea, a team, entrepreneurial talent of the owner, a business plan and successfully attracted resources for the implementation of this start-up.

The synergistic effect of the key components of a start-up: idea, team and financing is revealed. Each start-up, in the process of life goes through several stages that form its life cycle. The research results proved that these are 5 consecutive stages, namely – seeding, beginning, early growth, expansion and exit from business. The analysis of the most successful local start-ups that have received international recognition and funding from foreign investors was made. The study of the prerequisites and the need for the development of start-ups in Ukraine showed that the country has a significant potential, which acts as a leading driving force in the country's economy.

The rating of Ukraine in the lists of international ratings on the number of start-ups and opportunities to attract financial resources for their implementation is analysed. The main obstacles that often lead to loss making and liquidation of start-ups are summarized. The factors influencing the success of start-ups are established. The most common risks encountered when launching start-ups are incorrectly selected team, inadequate assessment of business ideas, mismatch of the business model of the start-up, lack of adequate funding.

Priority directions and prospects of development of start-ups in Ukraine are defined. State policy measures, the introduction of which will stimulate the development of start-ups, are substantiated
